Google Play Store is Android’s app, games, music, movies and books market available on all Android devices in all countries globally. It is one of the biggest eCommerce platforms available with over 3.5 million apps, updated daily.
Challenge
I was brought into Google to manage and scale Google Play Stores across 29 markets. My task was to identify the leading countries among my portfolio, ensure localisation is carried out and implemented fully, optimise the eCommerce platforms, build strategic relationships with partners and create promotional plan for the stores.
Opportunity
CIS markets are relatively new markets in the smart phone world and the smart phone and official app stores penetration is relatively low, yet growing. With improvements and proper management and promotion of the stores the growth potential was very promising.
Solution
One of the campaigns I have introduced, which was then followed by other markets and competitors (Apple Store), was Made in Poland campaign. I have identified the key performers among apps and games developers and worked with them on their app improvements to include them in the campaign.
Results
I have launched a Google Play Store campaign that was dedicated to polish apps and games produced by local publishers. It received media coverage, brought new users to the store, increased downloads, sales and in-app sales. Polish Google Play Store saw the highest acquisition increase YoY globally.
